Our Troop is chartered by Lake Murray Presbyterian Church in Chapin, South Carolina. We meet every Monday night from 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM during the Richland/Lexington District 5 School year. We schedule meetings during the summer as needed. Our "Calendar of Events" is updated regularly. We have 53 scouts that belong to six patrols: Antelope, Buffalo, Burning Arrow, Chameleon, Santee, and Swamp Fox. We have active scouts ages 10 - 17 in grades 5 through 12. We have a Scout Committee with six committee members who oversee the Pack, Troop and Crew. The Troop has a Scoutmaster and nine assistant Scoutmasters who assist the Troop Junior Leaders.
The Troop is directed by the Senior Patrol Leader and his Assistant SPL, Scribe, Quartermaster, Troop Guide and Chaplain Aid. Each Patrol Leader sits on the Patrol Leader Council and along with directing his Patrol, also helps the SPL plan and carry out the Troop Activities. Our Outdoor Program emphasizes a "backpacking" style of camping. We attempt to camp once a month and often go on extended camping trips of two or more nights.
Our Troop co-operates with Pack 411 (Cub Scouts) and Crew 411 (Venturing), also sponsored by Lake Murray Presbyterian Church. We have several "Venture Crews" in our Troop consisting of Older scouts who enjoy backpacking the Appalachian Trail, backpacking the Foothills Trail and backpacking treks at Philmont Scout Ranch. These "Venture Crews also go sailing off the coast of Florida and South Carolina. We also go whitewater rafting and rock climbing.
We belong to the Etowah Creek District in the Indian Waters Council.
